Aqua Zumba Your Way to Fitness

Aqua Zumba takes the dance workout into the pool. Instructors who have specialty licenses offer classes in many local fitness facilities. The workout uses large muscle movements while you are in the water. Some movements include circling the shoulders and hips, as well as lifting the arms and legs.

It is important to find a qualified instructor who has aqua fitness-related certifications. Certified instructors receive DVDs each quarter that contain new routines they can teach their students. The typical Zumba steps incorporate different dances that include salsa, mambo, reggae, merengue, and cha-cha. When done in water, the movements are slower and more exaggerated. That’s why the tempo of Aqua Zumba steps is half that of the regular Zumba.

Aqua Zumba is for people who are comfortable moving in water. It requires the individual to do different movements for each part of a song. Working out in water is good for people who require a low impact workout.

Elderly people choose Aqua Zumba when they have had a knee or hip replacement. Individuals recovering from an injury can also do the aquatic workout because it doesn’t have any impact on the feet.

Majority of the body weight is displaced when the water level is around your chest level. Your back, hips, and knees take less pounding while doing Aqua Zumba. Water also provides resistance, which makes the muscles work in a different manner. For a more intense workout, do Aqua Zumba with water that’s around your collarbone level.

When you are in an Aqua Zumba class, you will be moving non-stop for 55 minutes. It is a good low-impact cardio workout for people who love the water and dancing. It focuses on the core muscles and strengthens both your lower and upper body. The best thing about the workout is that it doesn’t feel like you are exercising because you are having fun with other members of the class.
