Ketogenic Diet for Weight Loss!

A ketogenic diet revolves around eating less carbs. When your body is depleted of carbs it uses residue ketones in your body to supplement the energy requirement does incorporating weight loss. This in turn burns the energy from your fat stores rather than depleting your body’s protein resources. A Ketogenic diet has proved to be very effective when it comes to weight loss and can be a good step towards weight management.

A Ketogenic diet requires your body to consume around 50 grams of carbs per day. This diet is extremely effective in getting lean because your body resets itself to consume energy from your fat stores as there is an absence of carbs in your body.

In a ketogenic diet you have to increase the fat intake in your diet but lower the carb intake. You have to also decrease the protein intake in diet or else most of the energy will be supplied by the fats in your body. Although it is recommended to get your body protein from lean meats such as Tuna or Chicken Breast when you are on a diet, you should opt for darker meats in a ketosis diet. Meats such as chicken thighs, lean beef, lamb and oily fishes like salmon are good additions to your ketogenic diet. This will allow you to get your fat and protein in one source.

If you are considering going on a ketogenic diet you should consider some of the following points. A Ketogenic diet can cause constipation and an unusual breath odour. You may want to carry an extra set of mints with you when you go out. There is worry that the diet promotes heart disease and there is a potential loss of bone and it is not recommended for people with liver and kidney problems due to the high amounts of protein. The preferred source of energy for the brain is glucose, which is decreased in a low-carbohydrate diet. This may make it difficult for you to perform effectively and might cause a mild headache from time to time.

However a Ketogenic diet is said to be one of the most effective diet for weight loss and has amazing results if followed strictly. After you have achieved your dream weight, you can start by slowly introducing your body to carbs but remember to keep them at a low range and start using an effective weight management plan.
